IIIT-H PGEE Exam Review
Friends I have attended the exam on 14th of this April.As we all know that IIIT-H is a very renowned institution known for its top rank in premier institutions.Firstly the applications were invited and the last day for submission is given up to 14th march which was later extended till 2nd April.
Being in dilemma that the competition would be negligible i literally underestimated its potency.No one in the exam hall has compromised.
And coming to the question paper.The advantage is there is no negative marking in both the sessions of the paper.And friends I belong to Electronics and Communications and the subjective paper is a bit tough,but if you are thorough with the chapters you can easily manage the paper.
You cannot underestimate the apti round.It is multiple choice paper in which more than one answer is present,and marks are awarded for those who attempted all the options which are correct.I am putting down some of the questions from my memory.
Question)A boy and girl started from a point at 7kmph and 6kmph respectively at the same point of time.A dog is starting from girl and moving towards boy and returns back girl simultaneously or continuously.Now the speed of the dog is 10kmph which is uniform and consider that the dog always moves at constant rate even at corners.What is the distance traveled by dog in 1 hour.
a)10km b)11km c)12km d)4km e)none of these
Actually I too donno the answer for the above question.But i am thinking that this problem's solving involves integral calculus.Another question as follows
Question)Two circles equations are x^2+y^2=16 and (x-2)^2+y^2=4.Identify the correct statements
1)the both circles touch each other internally
2)the both circles intersect
3)the distance between the centers is 2
4)all of the above
5)none
The answer for above one is 1 and 3.
Question)I here only explain the question as i did not remember the equations.There are two planes which are intersecting.So one of the plane is rotated perpendicular to the line of intersection.Now what is the new equation of the plane.
This kinda question is easy but it took me almost half an hour to solve as I forgot the procedure.Firstly I obtained the line equation which is intersection of the above two planes.So I've substituted a point (3,1,1) which satisfied both the planes and successfully I substituted in the available options and got right one.
And another question on random variables where he said to calculate Variance, and another one containing eigen vectors.Another on quadratic equations.
Simple comprehension passages and I have done it for worth moving into subjective.There are cutoff for this section for which if the student fails to achieve the subjective paper is not considered.After seeing the syllabus i was excited at such a small portion and planned to complete the portion but failed as well.
I was only successful in solving a single question here,but my friend says even it was wrong.
So here in the ckt Vbe=0.7,Rb=470kohms,Rc=2Kohms,Re=1Kohms,
Vcc=20V,beta=50.Calculate Vc.
Here Vc=Ic*Rc,So to calculate I have written the following equation.
Vcc=((Ic/beta)*Rb)+Vbe+((Ic/alpha)*Re)
Solving and substituting above I got Ic=2.008 milliamps approximately.
And now Ic*Rc=4V and here the twist is that the option is not there in the given one.
The options are 15.6,16,15,none of these.So I've opted 16 finally thinking that 4V have to subtracted from Vcc.But my friend says that he got 15.6 as answer..
And there are some questions on Signals and Systems.and only a single question on control systems.Here in the subjective only one answer is correct and hence here the probability to opt the correct one is 1/4.Friends I have no info when I am writing this exam.So may this be give you some useful information.
